PCF is proud to support the Mat-Su Sentinel with a $2,146 grant to purchase professional photography equipment that will strengthen the reach and impact of local, nonpartisan news coverage in the greater Palmer region.
This grant will allow the Sentinel to significantly improve the quality and engagement of its stories by upgrading from smartphone snapshots to high-resolution, professional photography. Data shows a compelling photo can increase engagement by up to 150%. Each photo-rich story is a chance to draw more readers into essential coverage.
In an era when agenda-driven websites and social media posts sow discord, it is more important than ever to focus on facts first. Quality local news reporting does that.
The purchased equipment photography equipment will support the Sentinel’s ongoing commitment to publish 3–4 high-quality stories per week. These visual improvements are expected to help the Sentinel reach 180,000 site visits over the grant year, expanding its role as a vital civic resource for the estimated 24,000 voting-age residents across Palmer, Butte, Sutton, Glacier View, and Chickaloon.
We’re honored to support the Mat-Su Sentinel’s mission to provide clear, inclusive, and nonpartisan journalism that builds civic health and community connection across the PCF region.
