There is no debating it. Winter is here. Homemade stew, savory dishes, roasted vegetables and well-crafted desserts are great antidotes to plunging temperatures.
In an effort to engage our all-volunteer board members with the local nonprofits we serve, and the businesses with whom we are working to collaborate, we have explored beyond our living rooms to meet at numerous locations for the past six months.
One of Palmer‘s most beloved restaurants, Turkey Red, has been a steadfast, behind the scenes contributor to PCF’s public events since our inception. Last month, Alex and her staff graciously provided her large meeting space, one of the few private dining rooms in downtown Palmer, for PCF to hold our monthly board meeting.
We purchased delicious food, accomplished good work as we dined, and spoke with Alex about the successes and challenges she has experienced this year as a local business owner.
The conversation revealed a shared value between a local restaurant business and our community foundation – to collectively nourish and support families, towns, profit and non-profit organizations within our region so we may all thrive.
Thank you, Turkey Red for hosting PCF last month and for your business model that reflects a generosity of spirit to friends, family, and community.
