What Is an Endowment and Why Is It So Powerful for Palmer?
We often talk about building a “forever fund.” But what does that actually mean? And how does it help our community now and for generations to come?
Let’s break it down.

An Endowment Is a Gift That Grows
Unlike one-time donations that are spent right away, an endowment is permanent. It works like this:
- You give a gift to the endowment.
- That gift is invested over time.
- Each year, a portion of the investment earnings is used to support local nonprofits.
- The original gift stays intact—forever.
That means your support doesn’t just help once – it helps every single year, building long-term strength and resilience for Palmer and our surrounding communities.

Why Does That Matter for Palmer?
When needs arise, an endowment means the community already has resources in place to respond. It gives us the flexibility to support everything from:
- Emergency food and housing services
- Arts and culture programs
- Youth and education
- Environmental initiatives
- Local health and wellness efforts
And because PCF’s endowment is unrestricted, we’re able to fund what’s most needed even as those needs change over time.

Big Impact, Year After Year
In just six years, PCF’s grantmaking endowment has grown to over $425,000. That fund has generated more than $120,000 in grants for our region.
And we’re just getting started.
If the fund continues to grow, projections show that today’s $425,000 could become $35 million in 75 years—producing $18 million+ in community grants along the way. That’s the power of compounding impact.

Endowment Is About Legacy
Whether your passion is art, education, safety, the environment, or simply making sure Palmer stays strong, endowment is one of the most effective ways to ensure your values live on.
When you support PCF’s endowment, you’re helping to:
- Provide stable, local funding for Palmer nonprofits
- Create lasting change for your neighbors
- Build a more resilient, adaptable community
It’s a gift that doesn’t just support today, it prepares Palmer for tomorrow.
