Grantee Highlight – Palmer High Sandwich Project $2500 granted to PHS Sandwich Project to provide students food over the weekend

The Palmer High Sandwich Project was initiated by a PHS student during the 2018 – 2019 school year. The aim of the project is to provide food to students in need, specifically on the weekends. PCF has awarded two grants, including a grant from the AK Can Do donations, to the Sandwich Project totaling $2500.

Due to increased need, the PHS Sandwich Project has grown to include elementary and middle school students. “As a high school, we are tasked with providing every student an opportunity to learn and achieve to the best of their ability. Meeting nutritional needs is at the base of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. When these needs are met, students are able to focus on learning, getting a valuable education, setting goals for the future, and ultimately becoming valued productive citizens of our community.”
