Join the PCF Advisory Board!

Do you feel a strong connection to the community of Palmer? Are you looking for a way to get involved? Would you like to give back to your friends and neighbors? If the answer is yes, you should consider applying for a seat on the Palmer Community Foundation Advisory Board!

We currently have an opening on our Advisory Board with additional seats becoming available at the end of 2020. The Advisory Board is comprised of people who desire to share their ideas and time to grow our Foundation into a permanent Palmer institution that supports local nonprofits through philanthropy.

What does the board do? We meet on a monthly basis, as well as a few other times a year for special projects. Time in between is spent on projects developed during the meetings. On average, this amounts to a few hours of effort a month. We also ask that board members fundraise and make connections with community members by educating them about PCF and our mission. There are numerous resources available to help with that message, as well as help from other board members.

When times return to normal, board members will host “friend-raisers,” a get together for 6 -12 people to introduce them to PCF and the work we do. PCF is also a community leader. We help facilitate discussion and action between other groups on the issues that impact our lives within the Palmer area. If you have an area of interest (senior care, recreation and outdoor activities, economic development, food security, mental health, etc), PCF may be a vehicle for your contribution to that cause.

In short, we need people who have a few hours a month to dedicate to PCF. We need people who have connections to the community, care about the future, and want to give something back. We need people who are passionate about making Palmer an even better place to live.

If you have questions about PCF or board responsibilities, visit our Advisory Board FAQs or contact us by email. If you would like to be considered for a board seat, please submit an Advisory Board application and current resume to palmer@alaskacf.org.
